Feet Warmers

A few weeks ago I went to a craft fair and met an older woman (cant remember her name) who was selling aprons and we started talking about sewing. One conversation led to another and eventually we started taking about Christmas gifts and She told me she made feet warmers for her family. I was so excited about the idea, I couldn't wait to make my own. I did end up having to wait because I was still working on Christmas quilts (first priority) and then we were out of town. So I finally got around to making them and I love them! I put mine at the foot of the bed and it keeps my toes warm all night.

All you need to do is sew together either, one long strip of fabric on three sides or sew two pieces if fabric together on all four sides.

•turn the fabric right side in.

•Sew the sides (and bottom if useing 2 pieces of fabric) and the top. Make sure to leave an opening so you can turn it inside out.

•Before closing insert rice (i used white rice) through the opening. I filled it about half way.

• If you'd like to make a strap, you could put it in before closing.

• Sew the opening closed and your all done.

Warm it in the microwave for one minute and enjoy! Remember, don't add anything that might damage your microwave to your foot warmer!

Pincushion

I just wanted to share this fun project with you. I made one of these for a friend of mine and decided that "maybe I should make one for myself." And so I did.

Want to make one yourself?
This is what you need:
-a tea cup
-a piece of fabric
-a styrofoam ball
-a few scraps of batting
-thread and needle
-a gule gun and glue stick

Step 1
place the cup upside down on the fabric and draw a circle about four inches bigger than the cup. Cut the circle out.

Step 2
Turn the fabric wrong side up. Place the scraps of batting on the fabric. Then put the foam ball ontop of the batting.

Step 3
Sew the fabric closed around the ball and batting. I sewed it like I would sew a yoyo (running stich, then pull it closed).

Step 4
Once you finished with your the fabric section put it aside, but keep it close.

Get your glue gun ready. Once its hot glue the bottom and rim of your cup. After its glued push your fabric ball into it and hold. When the glue is dry your done.

I do hope you enjoy making your own.

Pine Ridge Charity Quilt

These are two blocks I made for a charity quilt. I am involved with a forum (the quilt & needle) and many of the members are doing their own block for the same quilt. I am proud to be part of this project and I can't wait to see a pic of the finished quilt.
I'll post a pic. once it's done.

Lunch

This school year both of my children have lost their snack/lunch bags and have, for a few months, been throwing their snacks in a pocket of their backpack. I started to feel bad anout this, thinking to myself "what kind of Mom lets their kids have loose food in their backpack?". The problem is, I didn't want to spend more money on something that they treat like a soccer ball, at times. So this was my solution! I made them lunch bags from spare fabric, how smart am I!? To top it off, I made the sacks out of fabric that has characters they like. So now I am hoping they will take better care of their bag.

My Favorit Christmas Gifts

I was so excited to receive these two gifts. The first gift I got was given to me from a Secret Santa (my sis-inlaw) and she got me an OLFA 60mm rotary cutter. I was very excited! The next gift was from my Dad, it is a hand me down but I was still very excited. He gave me his semi used camera. This gift was exciting because 2 years ago my camera was "lost" during the clean up of a car accident I was in and I was so upset about all the pics I "lost" that I never replaced my camera. So, this camera was the best thing anyone could have given me.

I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year!
