Pine Ridge Charity Quilt

These are two blocks I made for a charity quilt. I am involved with a forum (the quilt & needle) and many of the members are doing their own block for the same quilt. I am proud to be part of this project and I can't wait to see a pic of the finished quilt.
I'll post a pic. once it's done.

Lunch

This school year both of my children have lost their snack/lunch bags and have, for a few months, been throwing their snacks in a pocket of their backpack. I started to feel bad anout this, thinking to myself "what kind of Mom lets their kids have loose food in their backpack?". The problem is, I didn't want to spend more money on something that they treat like a soccer ball, at times. So this was my solution! I made them lunch bags from spare fabric, how smart am I!? To top it off, I made the sacks out of fabric that has characters they like. So now I am hoping they will take better care of their bag.

My Favorit Christmas Gifts

I was so excited to receive these two gifts. The first gift I got was given to me from a Secret Santa (my sis-inlaw) and she got me an OLFA 60mm rotary cutter. I was very excited! The next gift was from my Dad, it is a hand me down but I was still very excited. He gave me his semi used camera. This gift was exciting because 2 years ago my camera was "lost" during the clean up of a car accident I was in and I was so upset about all the pics I "lost" that I never replaced my camera. So, this camera was the best thing anyone could have given me.

I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year!

Till next time, have fun sewing!

Christmas Quilt's

Woop, Woop! I did it! the Quilt's are done in time for Christmas! I thought this day would never come. I finished the first quilt in August and now it's December and I just compleated the last one. I am so very proud of myself, there were a few times when i thought to myself "I dont know if I will get these done...". I am so glad that i pushed myself, I sometimes work late into the night- 1, 2 and sometimes 3 in the morning i would be quilting. it was hard work but so worth my time. I can't wait to see the look on the kids faces when they see thier favorit character or colors on their quilts.

These are some burp rags I made to go along with the Winnie the Pooh quilt I made a few months/weeks ago. I dont remember exactly how long ago I made it but, I just made these and I think the set in going to look very nice together.

Dun-dun-dun-dun (in a sing-song voice)! Here it is! This is the back of my son's quilt, it is the part of the quilt that took me the longest to make. Laying it out took me about 5 hours! Once it was layed out I had to number each row so that I made sure to sew them in the right order. OMG! It was a lot of work and somewhere along the way a few of the rows moved out of order and I would have to do another quick lay out of a few rows. But look at it now! Doesnt it look so nice!? Well, I think it looks nice...

I still have to make the front part (so I guess I'm not realy done) but that will only take a few hours because I am just going to border a pannel. Then it's off to quilting and binding, so another day of work and it will be ready. I will post pics once it is fully and compleatly done.

Thanks for coming along on this adventure with me!

Till nest time, have fun sewing!

Ballerina

Yay! Yay! Yay! I have almost finished my Christmas quilts, I only have one more to make.

This one was made for my daughter. She says that when she grows up she wants to be a ballerina. This quilt was quilted and binded with glow in the dark thread. I tried to get a picture of it glowing but it would'nt work.

Till next time, have fun sewing.

Hexies- part 1

What can I say about hexies....they are so much fun!

This is one of the things I mad from the things I bought at Joann's on Black Friday. It is a Scrappy Hexie Rag Quilt. It is one of two I am making. The next one is going to be the same pattern but it will be in boy colors.

As you can see in the photos, I kind of showed how I put them together. The first pic. showes all the cut out hexie flannel fabric and (poly) batting. I cut my fabric hexies about 5 1/2" around and the batting hexies at about 4". Then I layered or sandwiched the three pieces, flannel, batting, flannel, and then sewed them together. Next I sewed the hexies into rows and then sewed the rows together leaving the seem sticking out on one side. Once everything is sewn together, using you siccors, cut notches into all the sticking out seems. That is what will give your quilt the rag look. When you finish you need to wash the quilt. IT IS GOING TO BE MESSY! Most people will tell you to take it to a laundrymat, I dont like to do that. So, what I do is wash the quilt by its self on superwash cycle (i also like to put my downey ball in the wash to help fray the quilt). When it's done washing take it to an open space and shake off as much of the lint clumps as you can. When you dry the quilt make sure your lint trap is empty because it is going to be very linty.

I had a blast making this quilt and I hope you do too.

Till next time, have fun sewing!

Score!!!

Went shopping this morning and boy did I score! I got all this for $60. I could have bought more but I was on a budget and I was afraid of going over my limit. After I was done at the cut table, I was kicking myself for not getting more fabric. Oh well, next time.

Joanns is having an amazing sale today (black friday).

Earings

Trinitie asked me to make her some earings and so we sat down and picked some out some beads. This is what we came up with.

If you remember from a few posts ago I said I had just started beading. Well since then I have bought more beads but I dont have the tools I need to shape the wire,so I had to bend and twist the wire with my fingers and my I say, OUCH! I think its time to get the tools. Bet my Husband will like that...

Till next time, have fun sewing (crafting)!

Cranberrie Jam

I love the holidays! It's the time of the year when I get to make things I don't usually get to make. I thought I would get started a little early this year by making a large batch of cranberrie jam. I can't wait to share with family and friends.

Kaylie's Quilt

This quilt was a lot of fun to make. It was my first try making pinwheels and I wont say they were hard to make, but they were challenging. I think that after doing them a few times i'll be able to breeze right threw them.

Now that I'm done with this one I have two more to do. Fewf! I can't believe I am almost done! When I started this project I wasn't sure if I could do it, but I sure am glad I tried.

Till next time, have fun sewing!
